GWMWater Rural Pipelines
There are two separate systems on the Rural Pipelines
Grampians Supply
The Grampians Pipeline sources water from the Grampians headworks system, supplying around 11,000 rural properties through approximately 10,000 kilometres of rural pipeline. This extensive network connects the Wimmera Mallee (Supply Systems 1,2,3,4 & 6), South West Loddon, Pella, Quambatook, Wartook, Connooer Bridge, Landsborough Valley and East Grampians pipelines.
Murray Supply
The Murray Pipeline sources water from the Murray River and Waranga system, supplying around 4,000 rural properties though approximately 4,500 kilometres of rural pipelines.
This network includes Northern Mallee and Wimmera Mallee (supply System 5) pipelines.
Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water (GWMWater) rural customers may permanently or temporarily trade standard water allowances ensuring a minimum of 100 kL is retained for any given property with an installed meter.

Trade will only be constrained by the extent that water can be supplied from a common water source and/or any hydraulic capacity constraints of the rural pipeline network.

The customer’s right to this water is registered in the Victorian Water Register.

Where there is a domestic residence, customers have been allocated a further primary allowance of 730 kL. The primary allowance remains vested with GWMWater and may not be traded.

Trades are subject to trading rules.

Where a customer has overused their total water allowance, GWMWater will communicate this and provide a period of time for the customer to correct their position.

Where a customer fails to correct their position by amalgamating or water trading, water used above their allowance will be charged at an excess rate in accordance with GWMWater’s schedule of charges.

Customers can monitor and set up alerts to manage water usage relative to their total water allowances via GWMWater’s Customer Portal.
